Three steps to get going

Allow the microphone
On first launch macOS asks for microphone access. That is how BufferMind hears what you say.

Allow screen recording
To caption meetings, videos and calls, switch BufferMind on under System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen Recording. macOS files system audio under that permission — BufferMind never records your screen.
